Redefining Care
When a parent begins to forget, life does not change overnight.
It changes quietly.
Conversations become simpler. Routines become uncertain. Moments of recognition come and go.
And slowly, you realise – this journey is not about restoring memory.
It is about redefining care.
Guide for Attenders & Caregivers
If you have brought in a professional attender to help care for your loved one, this 4 page briefing document will help them understand what Dementia is and what to expect.
It covers how to communicate, how to build trust quickly, daily care routines and what to watch for each day.
It can be handed to a new attender on their first day, and used as a reference throughout their time with you. Download the free guide below.
About the Book
This is not a medical guide. It does not offer clinical protocols or treatment plans.
It is a deeply personal account of one family’s journey through Dementia – told with honesty, warmth and the kind of hard-won insight that only lived experience can offer.
At the heart of the book is Dr. Gayatri R Chowdhry — a pioneering doctor, the first woman to head a State Forensic Science Laboratory in India, and a woman of extraordinary strength, grace and quiet wisdom.
In her final years, she lived with Dementia. And in those years, her family learnt things they could not have learnt any other way.
This book is their story and their sharing.
Written by her son Rohit R Chowdhry, it draws from a journey navigated together as a family – across homes and continents – and brings together the experiences, decisions and learnings of everyone who was part of it.
What this Book Covers
The book moves through 5 parts – tracing the full arc of the Dementia caregiving journey:
Before the Change: The early signs. The explanations we reach for. The moment a diagnosis brings both clarity and grief.
Understanding the New Reality: Why logic stops working – and what works instead. How communication, connection and conversation all have to change.
Living Through the Change: The practical reality of daily care – routines, safety, meals, sleep, engagement, professional support and the challenge of managing a care ecosystem over time.
The Inner Journey: What this experience does to you as a caregiver – how it tests patience, changes perspective and slowly, transforms you.
What Remains: A reflection on what endures – even when memory does not.
